Look out for this house’s iconic motif
Jeanne Lanvin founded her Paris couture house in 1889. It wasn’t long before her unfitted, chemise-style flapper dresses became synonymous with the Jazz Age. Lanvin was ahead of its time in using a stylised gold image designed by Paul Aribe in 1909 as branding. This distinct mother and daughter emblem made perfume bottles particularly Arpège — and items of gilded jewellery such as pendants, immediately identifiable. Later, Alber Elbaz who arrived at Lanvin in 2001 and spent 14 years at the helm, helped to return the label to the limelight. Today, the house’s newest creative director Bruno Sialleli adds his own unique touch, reworking the famous Lanvin motif and applying it to coveted, sports luxe creations.
