Yves Saint Laurent
Power jewellery to pair with your power suit
Yves Saint Laurent pioneered "Le Smoking", the original power suit for women and, with Rive Gauche, became the first couturier to launch ready-to-wear. Following the launch of his eponymous house in 1961, it was often wondered where his curious imagination would take him next. He looked to abstract artists such as Malevich and Mondrian, whose work he channelled in distinctive A-line dresses. According to his lifelong partner Pierre Bergé he was also "influenced artistically by the colours he encountered in Marrakech". The house grew to include accessories, menswear and fragrance. Over the years, designers who succeeded Saint Laurent have included Tom Ford and Hedi Slimane who rebranded it Saint Laurent. Anthony Vaccarello has been at the helm as creative director since 2017. All have successively re-interpreted famous house styles while introducing a slew of Yves Saint Laurent classics of their own.
